Within the past year, the percentage of high school students taking online courses has doubled.  A reported 27% of high school students took at least one online course in the past school year. This number is up from 14% in the previous year.

Studies show many students would like online learning to be a part of their high school experience. Experts have concluded that students today are more comfortable with technology than ever before, making online learning easier.

Although these online classes seem to be beneficial from the student’s prospective, they are limited in availability and are extremely costly to the school. The demand is just not there…yet.

What do you think about online courses for high school students?  Do you think they would benefit from online learning, or do you think they will miss the one-on-one interactive a classroom can provide?
